LOST GENERATION - DOCUMENTARY SERIES
Three documentaries - Six Hours of Accredited EDI e-learning content

On June 22, 2020, the Ontario Minister of Education placed the Peel District School Board (PDSB) under supervision following a review and investigation into its capacity to address serious concerns about systemic discrimination, particularly anti-Black racism, as well as significant issues in governance, leadership, and human resources practices.
In response, CPE Studios, commissioned by the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at Toronto Metropolitan University, has produced a documentary series aimed at fostering professional development for legal and education professionals. The series directed by Garrick Apollon, LLB, JD, LLM, LLCM, CFE, inaugural Filmmaker-in-Residence at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law focuses on addressing anti-Black racism and promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within Canada's educational system.
Titled Lost Generation, this compelling series comprises three short original documentaries that explore the systemic challenges and discriminatory practices undermining equity and inclusion in Canadian schools. These films are leveraged as case studies to provide a unique and innovative e-learning experience, accompanied by approximately six hours of interactive e-learning content.
"Our Children, Our Future: The Legacy of the Principal Thando Hyman" is a documentary film that chronicles the remarkable journey of Principal Thando Hyman, a prominent Black woman school principal in Toronto who dedicated her life to transforming the education system and fighting against anti-Black racism.
'I Am Not Your Bureaucrat: The Legacy of Patrick Case' explores Patrick Case's pioneering role as a human rights lawyer advocating for equity, inclusion, and systemic change within the educational system and beyond.
"The Legacy Academy" is an uplifting documentary that delves into the pioneering work of Imhotep's Legacy Academy (ILA), a transformative university-community alliance dedicated to bridging the achievement gap for African Nova Scotian students in grades 6 to 12.
The entire program is duly accredited by the Law Society of Ontario for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) training requirements.
With a critical lens on anti-Black racism and governance failures, the series highlights ongoing efforts to address these deep-seated disparities and offers actionable insights into potential solutions. Produced by CPE Studios, Lost Generation serves as an essential resource for advancing dialogue and action toward a more equitable and inclusive educational system.
